Alchemist Heady Topper - Seemed fitting to have one of these after today’s news that the cannery is closing for retail sales starting November 15th. I’d been hanging on to a few cans longer than I usually would from our September trip thinking I might use them to harvest Conan yeast for an upcoming homebrew IPA. It doesn’t look like that is going to happen anytime soon so I should make my way through these. One of my last Heady Toppers ever? Could be.
Some personal changes had already made it very unlikely I would be making Vermont beer trips in the immediate future and today’s news basically killed the feasibility of the quick, beer only Vermont trip. Especially when combined with the new Hill Farmstead growler limits and the change to short notice, shelf only bottle releases. I can see the reasoning behind both changes and I had already personally come to grips with this months ago, but it will be a major change to the Northeast beer community in general.
